Job Objective
- While assisting the Communications Lead and the Brand team on different branding, communications, and marketing projects, the Digital Marketing and Communications Officer manages Watu's social and digital media activities.
- In the busy Communications team, this new position plays a crucial supporting role in coordinating with many organizational areas to guarantee that all of our branding, communications, and marketing are delivered on numerous platforms to a high standard.
- All external communications for the company, including marketing and print materials, public relations, the website, and social media, are handled by the Communications team (under the Brand).
Significant obligations
- Digital marketing and social media
- Take the lead in developing content for social media for both current and future product lines alongside the content creator.
- To plan and execute digital and social media campaigns, work with the communications lead and other core teams (Watu Gari, Watu Simu, Watu Shule, etc.).
- Design the content for every platform in collaboration with the creative team.
- To support branding, communications, and marketing goals, schedule and publish content across Watu's social media channels (including the global page and various product lines).
- Utilize broader strategy to guide the execution of paid media activities with suitable schedules and budgets.
- Consistently keep an eye on digital platforms, and engage with the Customer Care team and/or other departments to handle inquiries and problems in accordance with the plan, escalating as appropriate.
- Offer proactive suggestions for improving the effectiveness of Watu's social media outlets.
- Analyze the success of social media, reporting on analytics, and making sure that the Communications Lead is informed of any findings.
- Identify digital trends and assess how Watu's communications strategy may be improved and evolved using them.

- Maintaining and timely updating the website with relevant material.
- Assist the Communications Lead and the rest of the Brand team with a variety of branding and communications projects across numerous channels and regions.
- Make ensuring that the brand, style, and compliance requirements are always followed.
- Ensure that the goals and targets set are attained.
- actively participate in team discussions and activities.
- Carry out any additional tasks given to you by the brand team.
Qualifications
Experience
- Bachelor of Arts in marketing, mass communication, or a related discipline
- experience working in a comparable digital marketing or communications function for at least two to three years.
- successful history in digital marketing or communications.
- knowledge of Google Suite tools, including MailChimp, Google Analytics, Google Data Studio, and Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides.
