- Geita Gold Mining Ltd (GGML) is Tanzania’s leading gold producer with a single operation in Geita Region. The mine is situated in the Lake Victoria Gold fields of Northwestern Tanzania, only about 85 km’s from Mwanza City and 20 km’s Southeast of the nearest point of Lake Victoria. Job Tittle: Compliance Officer
Department : Group Legal
Location : Tanzania
A vacancy exists in the Group Legal department for a Compliance Officer: Tanzania.
PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:
The role holder will be accountable for Compliance within Tanzania.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
· Diploma/ Degree in relevant field.
· 5 years’ relevant experience, with at least 1 year in a listed global, matrix organisation.
· Compliance experience is essential.

ACCOUNTABILITIES:
1. Compliance Training
1.1. Management of online training with IT and HR through Learning Management System (“LMS”) for all Compliance related training, ensure training is allocated to joiners, current employees and relevant contractors as required.
1.2. Management of technical queries related to online training with IT.
1.3. Ensure that the assigned training modules/programmes for the country/site are completed within the required time frame. Assist and guide employees where necessary and escalate to Group Compliance as needed.
1.4. Reporting of the completion of all courses at site/country level.
1.5. Follow up with learning defaulters through to completion and/or escalate issues where relevant.
1.6. Conduct employee/contractor induction and other “face to face” training on Compliance and Ethics and other regulatory compliance training as required.
1.7. Assist with update and renewal of training material to ensure relevance.
2. Declarations
2.1. Management of site/country declarations in relation to conflicts of interest, gifts, hospitality and sponsorships.
2.2. Monitor and assess “integrity” of management actions when approving or disallowing. Issue reports based on site and nature and management actions (approval, rejection etc.).
2.3. Management of online registers for political activities and communication on them as necessary.
2.4. Maintain calendar for local/national elections.
3. Communications
3.1. Manage and maintain an effective compliance communication program for the country, including communicating key compliance messaging to the country/site, including to promoted heightened awareness of the Code of Business Principles and Ethics, policies and procedures, and bribery/corruption, ethics, conflicts of interest, gifts, etc.)
3.2. Work with management to ensure that senior managers are also reinforcing these communications.
4. Reporting
Compilation of reporting internally including for local Audit and Risk, AGA Social, Ethics and Sustainability, Serious Concerns committee and externally (including 20-F, IAR, Sustainability Report etc.) as applicable, in the compilation and aggregation of Compliance Data in relation to Conflicts of Interest Declarations, Gifts, Responsible Sourcing, legal registers, training, confidential reporting, investigations etc.
5. Combined Assurance Audits
Participate and provide input into Combined Assurance Audits.
6. Policies and procedure
Assist in the review/ development and implementation of country/site policies and procedures.
7. Group-wide Compliance alignment
Alignment and implementation of the necessary systems and processes at country and site to meet Group-wide compliance, ethics, anti-corruption and anti-bribery program objectives. Collaborate with other departments, including internal audit, security, procurement, legal, human resources, etc.
8. Regulatory Compliance
8.1. Conduct certification of country legal registers (including in relation to Tailing Storage Facilities) to ensure that AGA complies with applicable laws.
8.2. Assist with ensuring in-country compliance to the broad spectrum of regulatory and legislative requirements.
9. Agents and Intermediaries
Maintain registry of Agents and intermediaries in line with Procedure on Engagements of Agents and Government Intermediaries and ensure compliance with the requirements of the procedure.
10. Third Party due diligence
Co-ordinate, manage and monitor third party due diligence, including (i) suppliers/vendors (ii) agents/ intermediaries, and (iii) potential Directors; (iv) JV partners (v) project partners (vi) CSI projects (vii) other ad hoc requests.
11. Responsible Sourcing
11.1. Assess Supplier Assessment Questionnaires and perform compliance-related due diligence on vendors.
11.2. Understand and classify vendors according to their risk profile, manage and mitigate the risk posed by the vendor by implementing sufficient controls
12. Books and Records: Government Officials
12.1. Ensure that all payments to government officials are completely and accurately reported in AGA books and records.
12.2. Assist in compiling, auditing, and reviewing the relevant registers and documentation supporting these payments
13. Reporting and Investigation of compliance incidents or violations
13.1. Identify and report compliance violations (and potential violations, including potential violations of the Code of Business Principles and Ethics).
13.2. Conduct and assist with Compliance related investigations where required.
14. Advice on Compliance and Ethics matters
Provide guidance and advice to staff on all compliance and ethics related matters.

Position: Graduate Mining Engineer

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:
- To work in the mine planning department developing short-term plan and monitoring plan compliance and perform day to day mining engineering duties required for smooth daily production targets.

EXPERIENCE:
- At least 1-2 years relevant experience in mining industry preferably open pit.
- At least 1 year in training in the other sections of mine i.e., Geology, Survey, long term planning, production, Drill and Blast etc
- Experience with MS Office software.
- Exposure in mining software such as Vulcan, Datamine, / ISTS/ EPS
MAIN OR KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Identify and interpret safety risks and resolve emerging issues; and ensuring that appropriate focus and resources are available to achieve safety objectives.
- Develop OP designs (ramps/ waste dumps/ access roads/ pit designs).
- Monitoring plan compliance.

- Create the attitude of teamwork in performing your roles.
- Assist the Mine Planning Engineer in prepare weekly plans for the respective pit in line with the monthly plan and present to operation.
- Coordinate the in-puts for the preparation of Bench Operating Plan (BOP).
- Prepare Daily Dig Plans to required standards and issued to operations for use in production planning as instructed by the Mine Planning Engineer.
- Perform pit design checks to ensure toes, berm crests, bench floors, ramp alignments are happening and are up to approved tolerances.
- Check that ramps and haul roads are constructed to approved designs as instructed by the Mine Planning Engineer.
- Assist in coordinating inputs from various sections e.g. geology, geo-tech and engineering for the preparation of the production plans.
- Check pit and stockpile levels of broken stocks and give feedback for production planning purpose.
- Monitor equipment performance on productivity and utilization and give feedback as instructed by the Mine Planning Engineer.
- Performing check on various ANSI into the local ANSI Access Database.
