Job advertisement: Communications & Marketing Advisor

Location: Mtwara, Tanzania
Start Date: May 2023
Length of placement: 12 months
Language requirement: Fluent in English (level 5)
Open to: Canadian citizens and permanent residents of Canada only

The volunteer’s role:

The Communications & Marketing Advisor will help capture the success stories of the SHARE project. They will conduct interviews with project partners and beneficiaries to write articles to share with donors and media. They will also create a marketing plan to support the sustainability of the project. This will involve using local media outlets such as radio, newspaper, and social media to reach a wider audience. The volunteer will work with other volunteers and contribute to workshop content and site visits.

Responsibilities:

• Evaluate existing communications strategies
• Develop a communications & marketing plan
• Conduct interviews and focus groups with partners and beneficiaries
• Identify opportunities for media content and create marketing content
• Collaborate with other volunteers on workshops and site visits
• Support social media posts

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field
• 2-3 years of experience in communications or marketing
• 2-3 years of experience creating promotional content (written, visual, audio)
• Facilitation and training skills

About the project:

• Cuso International is an organization that works to create opportunities for marginalized groups. The SHARE project aims to improve the economic and social well-being of vulnerable people, especially women and girls, in developing countries. The project is being delivered over seven years (2020-2027) with the help of a partner organization, the Small Industries Development Organisation in Mtwara.
