The Library Assistant will oversee all library’s daily operations.

Position Summary 
Ifakara Health Institute seeks a qualified and experienced Library Assistant. The individual will oversee all library’s daily operations to ensure members have full access to the resources they need for their studies or research.

Qualification and Experience
Applicants should possess a diploma in Library Science with a specialization in Digital Library. Additionally, having expertise in records management and information management is an added advantage.

Job Tittle: Research Scientist (2 posts) – MAP EA Node, Dar

The Research Scientist will support core researchers, enhancing data science capabilities, contributing to analytical models, preparing data, publishing research, and collaborating with peers.

Position Summary
Ifakara Health Institute is seeking a Research Scientist who will work with the Malaria Atlas Project (MAP) East Africa (EA) Node team and play a significant and strategic role in continuously assisting core researchers while improving the data science capability and contributing to the development of analytical models, preparing input data, deploying workflows, and disseminating results, including writing reports, papers for peer-reviewed publication, posters, etc.,  and engaging with relevant collaborators. Each RS will be allowed to design and implement his/her project with specific deliverables contributing to MAP’s overall objective and scope.

Qualification and Experience
The ideal candidate should have a master’s degree in a relevant field such as statistics, mathematics, data science, public health, epidemiology, or ecology, with strong quantitative skills. They should possess strong computer, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities, and experience in data manipulation using software like R. Additionally, they should have good English language communication skills and a track record of effective project and time management.

Job Tittle:Senior Research Scientist (2 posts) – MAP EA Node, Dar

The SRS will support the project’s mission by using advanced geospatial analysis to assess malaria risks and intervention impacts, guiding resource allocation for National Malaria Control Programmes.

Position Summary
Ifakara Health Institute seeks a Senior Research Scientist with advanced modelling skills who will join the Malaria Atlas Project (MAP) East Africa (EA) Node team. The SRS will contribute to the project’s mission and objectives of developing and employing cutting-edge advanced geospatial analytical architectures to understand the risks and estimate the burden of Plasmodium falciparum and Plasmodium vivax malaria, assessing the impact of interventions across various levels and settings at global, regional and national to provide the National Malaria Control Programmes (NMCPs) with the quality evidence to guide optimal allocation of resources in malaria-endemic countries.

Qualification and Experience
The ideal candidate should have a PhD in statistics or a related quantitative discipline, who has expertise in Bayesian approaches and spatio-temporal modeling at a global scale, experience in multi-metric analysis and covariate selection, proficiency in programming languages, knowledge of statistical software libraries, a commitment to best coding practices, experience in working with disease programs and managing relationships, research design and analysis of malaria surveillance data, strong communication skills, and the ability to manage research and collaborate effectively in a team-based setting.

Job Tittle: Research Scientist (Data Analyst) – MAP EA Node, Dar

The Data Analyst will design and manage software systems with the aim of advancing the study of malaria and related topics.

 

Position Summary
Ifakara Health Institute is seeking a Data Analyst to join the  East Africa (EA) Node of the Malaria Atlas Project (MAP) team. The role involves supporting the development of software and systems for studying malaria and related topics, from design to maintenance. The Data Analyst will work with a team to create world-class software and user-friendly systems, including robust APIs for data access by both internal and external users to access the project’s data.

Qualification and Experience
The ideal candidate should have a Master’s degree in computer science, software development, or a related field, along with at least 1 year of data science experience. A PhD in a related field is desirable. Proficiency in programming languages like Java and Python/R, as well as expertise in handling large datasets and SQL databases, is essential. Familiarity with web front-end technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) and excellent English language communication skills, including the ability to convey complex information clearly, are important. A strong grasp of relational and non-relational database design, knowledge of web services, and the ability to quickly adapt to new software, frameworks, and APIs are also valuable skills.
