Position Description

• The maintenance and expansion of Tanzania's trunk and regional road networks is under the purview of the Tanzania National Roads Agency (TANROADS). In addition, it is in charge of employing weighbridges to undertake axle load control operations.
• The Regional Manager's Office of TANROADS Mwanza, acting on behalf of the Chief Executive, is looking to hire qualified and competent Tanzanian citizens to fill openings at its Usagara Weighing Station and Regional Office as a way to improve the organization's capacity to carry out its functions effectively.
• Tanzanians who meet the requirements and possess the necessary skills are encouraged to apply to fill the numerous openings in the area on a contract basis (Renewable subject to satisfactory performance)

SERVICE TERMS AND CONDITIONS:

• Contract terms for appointments shall be three (3) years, renewable pending satisfactory performance, efficacy, and efficiency.

THE DUTY AND THE RESPONSIBILITY

• the performance of actions outlined in The East African Community Vehicle Load Control Act of 2016 and its Regulations of 2017. The following are some of the activities:
• Weigh the axle weights and gross vehicle mass (GVM) of motor vehicles in accordance with the current regulations.
• levy a fee for road damage on laden vehicles.
• Measure the physical dimensions of any load being transported by a motor vehicle.
• Verify that any special permissions required for trucks hauling unusual loads are being followed.
• Record any relevant information about the car being weighed.
• Implement axle load control for road traffic using weighbridge scales.
• Carry out any additional relevant tasks that the Supervisor may designate.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS:

• Must be a citizen of Tanzania
• possess a Full Technician Certificate (FTC) or a diploma in civil, mechanical, or electrical engineering from an institution of higher learning.
• Requires computer literacy
• fluent in both English and Kiswahili

OVERALL CIRCUMSTANCES

• All applicants must be Tanzanian citizens who are under 45 years old.
• Candidates must provide an updated Curriculum Vitae (CV) with valid contact information, including their postal code, email address, and phone number.

• The following certificates, in certified copies, must be attached by applicants:
• certificates, advanced diplomas, diplomas, and degrees;
• transcripts for degrees, advanced degrees, and diplomas;
• Form VI National Examination Certificate, Form IV, or both
• professional registration and training certificates issued by the relevant regulatory or registration bodies, as appropriate;
• certificate of birth;

The following certificates may not be attached in any way: -

1.  Results slips in Form IV and Form VI;
2. testimonials and all transcripts in part;

• On the CV, the applicant must include a current, passport-size photo.
• A candidate who has been dismissed from the public service, regardless of the cause, shouldn't apply;
• A candidate should list three credible referees along with their contacts;
• The National Examination Council of Tanzania (NECTA) should certify diplomas for Ordinary or Advanced level education issued by foreign examination organisations;
• The Tanzanian government should verify professional diplomas from foreign universities and other training facilities.
• National Council for Technical Education (NACTE) and the Commission for Universities (TCU);
• It is advisable for an applicant with special needs or a case (disability) to mention;
• On the day of the interview, only those who have been shortlisted will be notified, and;
• Legal action will be required if fake certificates and other documents are presented;
• You must address your application letter in either English or Kiswahili and include your signature.
