Position Description
A native NGO named Tanzania Health Promotion Support (THPS) was founded in 2011 in accordance with Nongovernmental Organization Act No. 24 of 2002. Through the strengthening of health systems for quality health services, THPS collaborates with the Ministry of Health (MOH), Ministry of Community Development Gender Elderly and Special Groups, Regional Administration and Local Governments (PORALG), Ministry of Health in Zanzibar, and Ministry of Home Affairs (MoHA) to ensure that all Tanzanians have access to high-quality health care services.
A five (5) year AFYA HATUA (Sustain Treatment, Enrolment and HIV Prevention- STEP) initiative sponsored by CDC/PEPFAR is being carried out by THPS. Through AFYA HATUA, THPS provides client-centered, comprehensive HIV prevention, care, and treatment services for general, important, and vulnerable groups in the Pwani, Kigoma, and Shinyanga regions, and helps the nation control the epidemic. AFYA HATUA extends best practices and lessons learned from THPS's 10+ years of implementing HIV programs in Tanzania in accordance with the National Multisectoral Strategic Framework (NMSF) IV, Health Sector HIV Strategic Plan (HSHSP) IV, and PEPFAR COP21 priorities of the Government of Tanzania (GoT). To accomplish the project's objectives, THPS is collaborating with all LGAs in the three regions, religious healthcare organizations, and community-based, key population (KP)-led groups.
In order to fill the positions indicated below, THPS is looking for competent, experienced, energetic, and qualified people.
Title of position: Systems Administrator
Deputy IT Manager
- Location: 30% field travel from Dar es Salaam
- Job purpose and responsibilities: Maintaining, configuring, and ensuring the smooth operation of the whole IT infrastructure, including Windows servers, computer systems, and cloud infrastructure
- Principal tasks and obligations:
- Perform server administration duties, such as user/group management, security permissions, group policies, print services, investigating event log warnings and problems, and resource monitoring, to make sure system architecture components function as a unit.
- Maintain datacenter health, respond to hardware issues as they appear, and assist with the construction, testing, and upkeep of new servers as required.
- Maintain internal infrastructure needs such as servers, routers, switches, firewalls, phones, printers, and security updates; support internet, intranet, LANs, WANs, and network segments.
- Interact with the IT assistant and other teams to help troubleshoot, pinpoint the issue, and offer assistance with the technical aspects as needed.
- Manage all network-based systems, such as active directory, operating systems, network-based programs, and infrastructure made up of SQL databases, Microsoft 365, AWS, and other similar systems.

- Monitoring and upkeep of ICT infrastructure security includes creating organizational security policies, conducting routine data audits, and creating, deleting, and managing user accounts.
- Protect system integrity against viruses and breaches and play a crucial part in risk mitigation strategy by developing backup strategies, data security measures, user security rules, and identity management.
- Maintaining database systems' integrity, performance, and efficiency, including the installation, design, configuration, migration, and security of the company's data assets.
- Manage virtual servers, update computer hardware and software, and include automated procedures
- Diagnose hardware and software issues by running tests, recording issues and fixes, prioritizing issues, and determining the effects of problems.
- Implement suitable methods for data protection, disaster recovery, and failover techniques, and perform routine backup activities.
- Investigate new offerings, service protocols, and industry standards to aid in the development and purchase of systems software.
- Make sure the proper steps are taken proactively to address unanticipated problems like IT outages or zero-day vulnerabilities.
- System log analysis will help you find potential server system problems and adopt or escalate suggested measures to address or reduce business risk.
- Monitoring system health and spotting unusual network activity may reveal security-sensitive actions like data transfer and unauthorized network access.
- To keep users up to date with new software installs or IT system updates, prepare ICT instructional materials and conduct training programs.
- Monitoring SQL databases, Microsoft 365, AWS, Microsoft Azure, and Frappe cloud infrastructure. Providing maintenance and troubleshooting any issues that may emerge.

Requirements, qualifications, and competencies:
- Bachelor's degree from a reputable college in computer science, computer engineering, information technology, or a similar discipline.
- ITIL, Microsoft Windows Server and Desktop certifications, Windows Server Administration Fundamentals, and Google IT Support certifications, among others, are examples of credentials in the IT field.
- A+, MCSE, CompTIA Server+, and professional certificates will be viewed as advantages.
- a minimum of three years' worth of hands-on expertise setting up and managing ICT systems, such as Windows Servers, Active Directory, Microsoft 365, and internet security.
- Knowledge of modern hardware and technologies, enterprise backup and recovery procedures, system performance-monitoring tools, active directories, virtualization, HTTP traffic, content delivery, and caching, as well as experience with or exposure to programming languages and operating systems.
- Understanding of cloud-based applications like Microsoft 365 and Azure.
