BACKGROUND
Detailed info on Jambo For Development:
- In order to further its mission of using imaginative sports and games to empower children and youth in Kagera Region, Tanzania to achieve gender equality and improve health (HIV/AIDS awareness, water and sanitation, and educational outcomes), Jambo for Development (JFD) collaborates with schools, kids, parents, institutions, local and central government officials. The JFD programs prioritize developing new infrastructure, educating instructors, and planning kid-focused sporting events.
- Management issues. To support Jambo For Development's continued initiatives, we are looking for a Finance Manager who is extremely competent, eager, and dynamic.
- The main responsibility of the position is to supervise the administration, finance, and accounting division's activities, drive the organization's financial planning by evaluating its performance and risks, maintain constant awareness of the financial situation of the division, improve financial control systems, produce periodic financial/management reports, and manage the finance and accounting team.
- The Finance and Administration Manager will be in charge of providing timely, high-quality financial inputs and outputs to ensure that the goals of Jambo For Development and our partners are achieved, under the general direction of the board of Jambo For Development and direct supervision by the executive director.
THE DUTY AND THE RESPONSIBILITY
The following responsibilities and duties will be assigned to the Finance and Administration Manager:
- overseeing and controlling all of the finance and accounting department's transaction processing
- Creating and evaluating financial guidelines and operational procedures (SOPs)
- Preparation of project financial reports. Because JFD has numerous partners funding a variety of projects, the finance manager is expected to provide our partners with timely financial reports.
- timely creation of consolidated financial statements, payments, and cash flow management reports on a monthly basis.
- Create and manage yearly and multi-year budgets that are sufficient for the demands of the organization, including regular budget predictions.
- communicating with the internal and external auditors, the regulators, and any outside parties
- managing and putting internal audit findings into practice
- enhancing the organization's internal control mechanisms
- monitoring monthly returns and reconciliations for the withholding and VAT taxes
- giving advice on how to make the organization's financial and accounting procedures better.
- Create project estimates, budget variance analysis, financial risk management techniques, and reports in conjunction with the project managers.
- Create monthly cash requests and cash estimates for our German partners.
- Make sure to deliver monthly financial reports to partners on the due date.
- Maintain a sufficient system for filing vouchers in order to support or ensure Tanzania's and Germany's sponsor reporting obligations.
- Following our Munich-based colleagues' accounting guidelines for a 1:1 conversion of the TZ data and outcomes
- with regard to the German accounting system
- Make sure that all employees follow the policies and processes for financial, travel, time reporting, and procurement.
- Create, enhance, and record administrative processes
- Keep up with JFD's fundamental administrative systems, such as information resources, general filling, electronic filling, employee records, contracts and leases, subscriptions, insurance, etc.

- Project controlling: Check the required updates for our "project sponsor overview or so-called bible" on a weekly basis with the JFD team and compare cost projections for Memorandums of Understanding (MoU) and sponsor budgets against actual Year-to-Date costs
- All bank accounts and petty cash are under monthly balance supervision.
- to provide and clarify monthly and yearly financial data for German financial reporting.
- Prepare the data and information for the yearly report for Jambo for Development
Additional duties and abilities:
- Online banking includes payments and withdrawals from the bank
- Perfect Excel proficiency and the ability to setup fresh pivot lists for changing analytical needs.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCES NECESSARY
Education:
- Degree from an accredited university, preferably in finance, accounting, business administration, economics, or a similar discipline.
- Experience in finance of at least 5 years, of which 2 must be at the senior management level.
- qualified accountant, preferably a CPA, who is also a member of NBAA
- System with IPSAS experience is preferred.
- solid understanding of the laws, regulations, and best practices that govern organization finance and accounting
- Having thorough awareness of TRA and tax issues and remaining current on all applicable rules
- a solid grasp of forecasting, financial analysis, and budgeting
- Planning and reporting abilities in finance
- outstanding interpersonal and communication abilities
- Management and leadership abilities
- able to utilize MS Office, online fast book, and accounting systems with ease
Language prerequisites
- Fluency in written and spoken Kiswahili and English.
