Accounts and Finance Officer Vacancy

  • The Legal Services Facility (LSF), an NGO with the registration number 00NGO/R2/00011, is a recognized non-governmental organization (NGO). It is a basket fund designed to distribute cash to groups in Tanzania's mainland and Zanzibar that offer legal aid and paralegal services on an equal opportunity basis. These services help people defend their fundamental human rights, assert their legal claims, and address their complaints.
  • DANIDA and the EU make contributions to a basket fund that is managed by the LSF. It serves as a grantmaker with the ultimate objective of improving access to justice using a strategy of legal empowerment, especially for women and girls. A paralegal cadre of over 4000 is supported by implementing partners and arranged in 184 district-based paralegal organizations.

A role

job objectives

  • To efficiently manage a grant portfolio and offer assistance to grant recipients in order to ensure the timely and cost-effective completion of high-quality projects. By checking the accuracy of the budget and coordinating post-award actions, s/he coordinates the administrative and financial components of grants, grantee agreements, and budget completion.
  • Prepare all payments, make sure they are issued on schedule and with the proper documentation to suppliers and payees.
  • Make sure that each voucher has its corresponding payment receipt attached.
  • Be a part of LSF budgeting procedures.
  • As necessary, enter all financial information in the accounting system.
  • help with the quarterly preparation of financial reports and a cash flow spread sheet, or as needed by management for decision-making.
  • To guarantee that all working advances are accounted for promptly and correctly, check staff working advances and maintain subsidiary ledgers for all employee working advances.
  • assist other staff members with financial matters, such as budget management, and offer support and training to others in the work unit.
  • Prepare statutory payments and monthly salary for each employee under the Participate in the auditing process, including the planning stages, the audit itself, and the creation of audit answers.
  • As per Tanzanian rules and regulations, keep track of and complete all statutory and regulatory compliance. Filing all returns in line with the law is required, including those for Workers' Compensation (WCF), Pension Funds, Students Loan Board, and other tax-related issues including VAT, Cooper Tax, Withholding Tax, and PAYE.

Qualifications:

  • a combination of the education, training, and experience described below that would be equivalent to the position's requirements.

Knowledge, abilities, and education:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance.
  • At least three years' worth of experience working in a position equivalent in an NGO
  • proficiency with MS Word and Excel
  • powerful editing and writing abilities
  • experience in development projects and budget assessment and monitoring
  • experience with cost controls and budget analysis for development projects
  • shown ability to collaborate well in teams
  • the capacity to create reports and presentations
  • Availability to work across all project areas and travel
  • An added benefit is having experience managing grants.
