Job Description Manager of Human Resources

  • The Dutch holding company JAMAEL Food Group owns the canning plant and farm known as African Vegetables Company Ltd. (AVL) in Machame, Kilimanjaro. In addition to packing green beans in glass jars for export, we have plans to pack a wide range of other goods on our recently installed tin canning line. Our Dutch sister firm Baltussen provides us with a variety of operational services, such as sales, labeling, and logistics & distribution.
  • Additionally situated in the Netherlands are our managers of quality and finances.
  • Our goal is to sustainably produce food in Tanzania that meets export standards while also making it available to the local and regional markets. We think food processing will play a significant role in increasing the export and local market offerings by adding value while maintaining nutrients and extending shelf life.
  • After COVID-19 forced us to halt production, we resumed operations in August 2021 under new management that had been engaged particularly to help us expand as a business and achieve our goals. Along with broadening our product line, we are also establishing operations that are consistent with the corporate objective by enhancing operational effectiveness and securing our social and environmental sustainability.

Position description

  • The main responsibility of the human resources manager is to make the most of the company's human resources in order to accomplish its objective while making sure all compliance standards are satisfied.
  • To ensure a productive and stable workforce, this entails advocating for employee interests to senior management and shareholders as well as expressing corporate interests to employees. The General Manager is the HR Manager's superior.
  • Together with senior management, the human resources manager converts company strategy into HR strategy and policy and oversees implementation. In order to establish a positive work environment and a productive workforce, recruitment, retention, compensation & benefits, and learning and development are all included in the portfolio. ensuring complete adherence to both international standards set for the business and Tanzanian labor legislation
  • The Human Resources Manager is also accountable for any actions taken on its own initiative or at the request of clients. responsibilities & tasks

Strategy

  • Develop the proper HR strategy and policy to serve the demands of the business in terms of the work environment and workforce.
  • Using established KPIs, strategy is converted into efficient HR processes and useful systems.
  • These KPIs, such as retention, recruitment, and productivity rates, sick leave, hours worked, overtime, etc., are tracked, reported on, and driven on.

Governance

  • Ensures compliance with all aspects of Tanzanian labor laws, including social certification, work licenses for foreign workers, and monitoring.
  • supporting management in their area as appropriate to ensure that all needs for human resources are satisfied
  • When necessary, coordinates with authorities on HR-related issues (Labor Office, NSSF, OSHA).

Administrative

  • Maintaining and protecting personnel files with all necessary documents
  • Prepare Employers Warnings if the general manager so directs.
  • Ensure that applications for work permits from foreign employees are processed quickly.
  • Create legal and efficient contracts
  • Planning and managing leave and benefits while using the right management
  • Facilitate and plan employee performance reviews.
  • creates and keeps track of educational plans, performance development, etc.
  • responsible for processing payroll, adjusting imbalances, and fitting compensation
  • keeping track on market developments regarding salaries and earnings at all levels

Functioning & actions of employees

  • Confidante in the company: listens when necessary, keeps to himself, and appropriately handles disagreement
  • oversees communication with all staff regarding corporate decisions, is in charge of communication, and is in charge of keeping staff informed of pertinent problems.

Who it is that we seek

knowledge and expertise

  • Bachelor's degree at least in HRM or a relevant field
  • Minimum 5 years of HRM experience, at least 2 of which were spent as the end-point HRM accountable for compliance
  • working familiarity with social certification programs and labor laws
  • experience collecting work permits and working in international work situations
  • digitally savvy and at ease managing human resources
  • Fluency in Swahili and English (written & spoken)
