We are seeking the following job positions below.........
HEAD OF RESIDENTIAL LIFE
This role is a leadership role which can be carried out with a teaching commitment in any available subject. The successful applicant will be in charge of a residential community numbering 200 students and supported by 11 other Residential Leaders. This position is on the Moshi campus. Past experience in a residential setting is required. Previous UWC and/or IB experience is preferred. UWC East Africa is a mission driven school and applicants should have a personal philosophy with a strong alignment to our guiding statements. This role will have a partial teaching commitment in line with some of our other vacancies.
PART TIME MUSIC POSITION
Position teaching Music at the MYP and PYP level. Past experience with both the MYP and the PYP is preferred but experience teaching students aged 5 to 13 is a requirement. This is a part time position at 60 to 75% and may be combined with other part time positions. As part of the philosophy at UWCEA all secondary teachers have a portion of their teaching allotment set aside for working in the residential setting. PYP TEACHER
Position teaching primary at likely the upper PYP level. Past experience with the PYP as well as some experience in an international multi-cultural classroom is preferred.
THEATER (DRAMA)
Position teaching Theater/Drama in the IB DP and MYP programmes and may require English classes. Past experience with both the MYP and the DP is preferred. As part of the philosophy at UWCEA all secondary teachers have a portion of their teaching allotment set aside for working in the residential setting. The amount of time set aside varies depending on the residential role.
HUMANITIES AND ART
Position teaching Humanities and Art at the MYP level. Past experience with both at the MYP level is preferred but experience teaching students aged 11 to 16 is a requirement. As part of the philosophy at UWCEA all secondary teachers have a portion of their teaching allotment set aside for working in the residential setting. The amount of time set aside varies depending on the residential role. This position is on the Moshi campus.
PHYSICS AND MATHEMATICS
Position teaching Physics and Mathematics in the IB DP and MYP programmes. Past experience with both the MYP and the DP is preferred. CHEMISTRY TEACHER
Position teaching Chemistry in the IB DP and MYP programmes. Past experience with both the MYP and the DP is preferred. ENGLISH TEACHER
Position teaching English in the IB DP and MYP programmes. Past experience with both the MYP and the DP is preferred. LEARNING SUPPORT
Position heading the learning support team in our IB PYP, MYP and DP school. Previous experience in learning support is essential. UNIVERSITY COUNSELOR
Past experience with student applications to North America as well as Europe preferred. This role has a teaching commitment normally with a life skills class which includes socioemotional as well as university preparation along with other aspects. Part of the philosophy at UWCEA all secondary teachers have a portion of their teaching allotment set aside for working in the residential setting. The amount of time set aside varies depending on the residential role.
INTERN POSITIONS
We are looking for Interns for the period of August through December. The Intern role is open to Tanzanian university graduates that have graduated in the last 3 years and hold a teaching degree. Interns work in both the classroom and residential setting with a diverse set of students and will learn about the IB program. Interested candidates should submit their CV and transcripts.
APPLICATION PROCEDURES
- Any applications for either Moshi or Arusha Campus should include a full CV/résumé and the names and addresses (including e-mail addresses) of three professional referees. It is important to include details of any family members who may accompany you; we are unlikely to offer employment to a spouse unless as part of a teaching couple and local employment opportunities are extremely limited. Current Tanzanian regulations mean that we are only able to consider teachers under fifty five years of age who have a minimum of three years’ teaching experience.
- As a minimum requirement, all applicants for teaching positions must have a first degree and a teaching qualification that entitles them to teach in their home country. International teaching experience is also desired. All teachers of diploma level subjects are required to have a minimum of three years’ teaching experience at a similar level, such as IB Diploma, AP, or Advanced Level experience.
- For many teaching positions, experience of teaching IB PYP, MYP or Diploma (as appropriate) will be a significant advantage, but is not specifically required.
