Job Summary
- One of the six districts in Tanzania's Lindi Region is called Liwale. It is one of the major districts in Tanzania and the largest district in Lindi. It shares borders with the Morogoro Region to the west, the Kilwa District to the east, the Pwani Region to the north, and the Ruangwa District to the south. The Nyerere National Park encompasses the majority of the Liwale district.
- The Liwale District had 75,546 residents as per the Tanzania National Census of 2002.
- Due to Nachingwea District's growth, Liwale District was detached from it on July 7, 1975, and it became a distinct district. Earlier than that, starting in 1961, Liwale District was a Division of Nachingwea District. The District officially established a constituency in 1975, and the late Prime Minister Rashid Mfaume Kawawa was its first representative.
- Liwale District, which was split off from Nachingwea, is one of the six district councils that make up the Lindi area, along with the district councils for Kilwa, Lindi, Ruangwa, Nachingwea, and Lindi Municipality.
- When Liwale District first arrived in 1984, it was a Council. It then evolved into a Local Government Authority with all the authority outlined in the 1982 Act creating such Authorities.
