Overview of the duty station

• One of the six districts that make up Tanzania's Singida Region is the Ikungi District. It was separated from the Singida Rural District and is one of the 20 new districts that have been created in Tanzania since 2010. Iramba District, Singida Urban District, Singida Rural District, Manyara Region, Manyoni District, and Tabora Region are the districts that border Ikungi District to the north, east, south, and west, respectively. The town of Ikungi serves as its administrative center.
• Ikungi District had 272, 959 residents as of the 2012 Tanzania National Census.

Transport

• The district is traversed by paved trunk route T3, which runs from Morogoro to the Rwandan border.
• The district is traversed by the Singida branch of Tanzanian Railways' Central Railway. In the town of Ikungi, there is a station.

Organizational divisions

• Ikungi District was divided into 26 wards administratively as of 2012.
• 2002 ,30 wards served as the administrative divisions of the Singida Rural District.
