JOB HEADER TITLE:Communication Aide

CONTRACT TYPE:A special service contract - (SSA - Level 5)

UNIT/DIVISION:Alliance for Farm to Market (FtMA)

(City, Country) DUTY STATION:Tanzania's Dar es Salaam

DURATION:7 Months

MINIMUM STANDARD QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

  • a bachelor's degree, or its equivalent, in one or more of the following fields: business administration, social sciences, mass communications, or a discipline associated with agricultural value chain management.

Experience:

  • a minimum of five years of experience in the media and communication fields, working for either for-profit or nonprofit organizations on initiatives relating to the value chain and with significant exposure to the private sector experience communicating with stakeholders from the public and business sectors and writing media papers. knowledge of pertinent and/or additional humanitarian/development organizations, commercial agriculture, or the media.

Languages:

  • English and Swahili fluency (oral and written) are essential.

JOB OBJECTIVE

  • to carry out routine administrative tasks and a few specialized communications tasks that assist in producing communications materials and providing communications services geared toward preserving and expanding WFP's visibility and reputation as well as assisting fundraising efforts

  • Focus on achieving results: Tracks trends in task completion rates for one's own work in order to spot opportunities for efficiency.
  • Make commitments and keep them: Accepts responsibility for one's work and advises the supervisor as soon as feasible of any potential delays in fulfilling commitments or deadlines.
  • Make a choice: independently chooses what to do when presented with difficult decisions at work or in perilous circumstances outside of it.

  • Connect with other WFP units and share information: Suggests to the supervisor possible alliances with other units.
  • Create effective external alliances by looking for chances to collaborate with industry peers and partners on projects with similar objectives.
  • Being politically flexible and agile entails acknowledging the importance of WFP teams and outside partners in achieving team goals and objectives.
  • Be specific about the benefits WFP partnerships: own operations with supervisor's goals in order to meet the demands of partners both inside and outside the company.
