  • On behalf of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Tourism (MNRT), Public Service Recruitment Secretariat (PSRS), invites dynamic, proactive, experienced and suitable qualified Tanzanians to fill two (2) vacant posts of (i) The Director General of Tanzania Tourist Board, (ii) The Director of Marketing of Tanzania Tourist Board

TANZANIA TOURIST BOARD (TTB)

  • The Tanzania Tourist Board Act (CAP.364 R. E. 2002), as amended by Act No. 4 of 2018, established the Board. The Board's legal responsibilities include developing and marketing all facets of Tanzania's tourism industry. The following are specific demands for the positions:

POSITION: GENERAL DIRECTOR

THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS IS REPORTED TO BY THE EMPLOYER TANZANIA TOURIST BOARD (TTB)

  • supervises the directors and unit heads

  • proven service marketing abilities for the domestic, regional, and international marketing of Tanzania's tourism industry;
  • understanding of local, regional, and global tourist sector practices;
  • knowledge of public policies, rules, and regulations pertaining to the national, regional, and global tourist industries;
  • ability to interpret policy goals for the Tanzania Tourist Board's creation, the national development plan, economic policies, and the Board's role in carrying out those goals and any new issues in the tourist sector;
  • Strong resource mobilization and negotiation skills; the capacity to innovate and develop tourist sector solutions for high end, mid end, low end, and emerging markets
JOB SUMMARY

  • Within the framework of its Vision, Mission, and Objectives in accordance with the National Policies, manage, change, and develop the Tanzania Tourist Board and the Tanzanian tourism industry to be competitive on a national, regional, and international level.
  • State regulations, national growth plans, and new problems in the tourism sector worldwide.

THE DUTY AND THE RESPONSIBILITY

  • creating strategic plans, annual budgets, and plans while considering the mission and vision of the board in order to build institutional capacity and increase TTB's effectiveness;
  • creating the policies of the Board and ensuring their application;
  • coordinating with tour operators to manage all initiatives for the promotion of travel both inside and outside of Tanzania;
  • overseeing, evaluating, and carrying out the operational strategies for all functional Directorates and Units
  • maintaining contact with the government and the donor community via the tourism ministry, the treasury, and other state agencies on problems related to tourism;
  • Chief spokesperson for the Board, responsible for fostering a positive atmosphere for public and labor relations (PR) and upholding the Board's reputation;
  • creating and launching changes to the organizational structure to increase its effectiveness in accordance with the Tourist Board Act and other pertinent laws;
  • reporting on the state of performance, revenue, and spending to the Board on a quarterly and semi-annual basis;
  • preparing and submitting projections of income and expenses to the board not later than three months before the end of each fiscal year for consideration
  • ensuring that the Board's initiatives adhere to governmental directives;
  • submitting a report with the following information to the Board every three months

a) Performance metrics and other relevant data;

b) The Board's operations;

c) Any additional data that the Board may deem appropriate.

  • overseeing, guiding, and coaching subordinates to make sure their performance is in line with the goals and objectives of the Board;
  • keeping an eye on the Board's budget's execution;
  • conducting recurring staff performance evaluations of subordinates; and
  • doing any further related tasks as assigned by the Board.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • a graduate degree from an accredited institution in one of the following areas: tourism, hospitality, marketing, business administration, commerce, international business, economics, entrepreneurship, human resources management, public administration, or law.
  • A distinct advantage would be having a PhD in one of the aforementioned fields.

LANGUAGES

  • Ideally bilingual in English and Kiswahili. It will be advantageous to know additional languages, such as French, Spanish, Arabic, and Chinese.

EXPERIENCE

  • At least ten (10) years of relevant work experience are required, of which five (05) should be in senior management roles with recognized organizations.

LIMIT OF AGE

  • a maximum age of fifty-five (55) years

TERMS OF APPLICATION

  • contract with a performance-based renewal period of three to five year

REPAYMENT: Negotiable
