Position Description
- Requesting a consulting company to undertake the UNFPA-UN Women Joint Program's Endline Survey
- "Achieving Gender Equality through Advancing the Status of Women and Adolescent Girls"
- With financial assistance from the Korea International Cooperation Agency, the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women (UN Women) in Tanzania have been implementing a three-year joint program since 2020 called "Realizing Gender Equality through Empowering Women and Adolescent Girls" in the Shinyanga and Singida Regions (KOICA).
- In accordance with the implementation of the Agriculture Sector Development Plan (ASDP) II, National Plan of Action to End Violence Against Women and Children, the Joint Programme has supported ongoing efforts and commitment by the Government of the United Republic of Tanzania to advance gender equality and end poverty by strengthening village land use planning, improving women's economic status and agricultural transformation, and ending all forms of violence and harmful practices against women and children.
- The Joint Program's goals are to improve the social and economic condition of women and teenage girls in the districts of Ikungi, Singida, and Msalala, Shinyanga, by 1) empowering women and female youth farmers economically, and 2) promoting gender equality.
- improving the community's and institutions' ability to prevent and address gender-based violence (GBV), including harmful practices.
- An endline evaluation of the program has been planned to assess the program's relevance, effectiveness, and efficiency in the program's target areas since this is the last year of its operation. With recommendations for sustainability and scale-up, the end-line evaluation will be conducted for the sake of learning and accountability.
Area of Responsibility
- In Ikungi District, Singida Region, and Masalala District, Shinyanga Region, the endline assessment is anticipated to be carried out using the consultant's suggested quantitative and qualitative study techniques. Interviews with the relevant institutions and beneficiaries who were reached are part of the qualitative methodology.
- The Agriculture Marketing Cooperative Societies (AMCOS), public organizations, sector ministries, and market and village committees are a few examples. Interviews will also be conducted with representatives from the regional and district NPA-VAWC Protection Committees, including those at the ward and village levels, a few health facilities, and a few CSOs active in the program area.
- The UN Women and UNFPA Joint Programme Team (JP Team) will provide a preliminary list of specific stakeholders and benefit groups to help with further development and completion of the consultant company's field data collecting strategy.
- In order to accurately reflect the contribution to results under the two outcomes and associated outputs, the chosen research firm shall gather the appropriate data across all thematic areas of the program as part of this assignment.
