- For the five-year, $12.9 million USAID/Tanzania Heshimu Bahari (Respect the Ocean) Activity, Chemonics is looking for a Private Sector Engagement Lead. In order to reduce the use of illegal and unsustainable fishing, improve coastal land and seascape governance, and strengthen the capacity for policy development and implementation, this activity will put into practice a number of interventions that support and strengthen the capacity for biodiversity conservation. Together, these initiatives will lessen the dangers to Tanzania's marine and coastal biodiversity.
- The Private Sector Lead will assist initiatives that boost private sector involvement and investment in the management of fisheries and marine protected areas. In addition to identifying and disseminating investment possibilities that assist communities and ecosystems, they will endeavor to encourage private sector investment. The location of this position will be Tanzania's Dar es Salaam. A US-based international development consultancy firm with operations in over 95 countries is called Chemonics International Inc. Responsibilities:
- Create and maintain connections with partners in the private sector to support the activity's engagement initiatives.
- Create and put into action initiatives that ensure private sector players and business partners are active in promoting and incentivizing the sustainable management of marine resources in a business-friendly and socially responsible environment.
- Support the development, improvement, and replication of marine protected area and sustainable fisheries management models by private sector players and business organisations.
- Determine and describe the shared value that private sector participants provide to the activity's objectives.
- Contribute to the monitoring, evaluation, and learning processes connected to private sector engagement activities by assisting in the formulation of activity deliverables.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree (or its equivalent in a foreign language) is necessary, but an advanced degree is desired in business administration, economics, communications, or another comparable discipline.
- Experience working with private sector actors in the fisheries, tourism, or allied sectors is preferable; five years of private sector involvement experience in Tanzania is a requirement.
- Experience working with the business sector on CSR or social development initiatives is preferred.
- expertise building and sustaining strong bonds between stakeholders in the commercial sector, government, civil society, and donors
- Preferably, you have experience working on donor projects with USAID.
- demonstrated honesty, adaptability, and leadership
- English proficiency is essential, although Kiswahili proficiency is encouraged.
