It should be noted that in 2021 the Sixth Phase Government released Shillings
240 billion for the construction of 12,000 classrooms in schools
secondary and enable all 907,802 students who had passed

2.0 Selection of Students to Join the First Form in January
2023
Dear Journalists;
Office of the President – TAMISEMI in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, Science and
Technology and the Tanzania Examinations Council has completed the exercise

January, 2023. The election involved 1,073,941 students who passed the Exam
of Finishing Primary Education in 2022 announced by the Council of
Tanzania exams. Among them, 514,846 are boys and 514,846 are girls

First Form in Government Schools.
The number of students who successfully joined the first form in January, 2023
has increased by 166,139 students equal to an increase of 18.30 percent
compared to 907,802 Students who got marks to enable them
to join the First Form in 2022. Among those who passed and

This year for the third time, the selection of students to join
Form One has been done using the Electronic System of
Student Selection (Students Selection-Management Information
System) created by IT experts of the President’s Office TAMISEMI
and the Tanzanian Examinations Council. This system has helped things
the following:
a) Reducing the time spent on Student Selection
Enrolling in First Form studies;
b) Reducing costs incurred during the Election Exercise and
Planning of Students to join the First Form; and
c) Increase efficiency and transparency in student elections

3.0 Criteria Used to Assign Schools to Students
